I have been an Anaesthetist since 1989 and have been living and working on the Central Coast since 1999. I currently work in the Public and Private sector with particular interests in Obstetric Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia especially upper limb, Anaesthesia of Oesophagostomy and major abdominal surgery. I am involved in continuing medical education by regularly attending overseas conferences with Interplast (Indonesia, Fiji and PNG).

I graduated from University of New South Wales in 1980 with an MBBS. My intern and resident years were spent at Royal North Shore and Gosford Hospitals. After working in England I completed a diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology. Then a number of years were spent practising Family Medicine on the Central Coast. I am an experienced Surgical Assistant in the orthopaedic, vascular, gynaecological and general surgical fields with current laparoscopic and arthroscopic competency. I have accomplished over 20 years’ experience in surgical assisting on the Central Coast.

I have worked on the Central Coast for over 17 years. I have been a Specialist Anaesthetist since 2004. Throughout my training I have been involved in retrieval medicine (NRMA Care Flight) and hyperbaric medicine (Townsville Hospital). As well as my appointments in the private hospitals on the Central Coast I am also the supervisor of the Anaesthetic Research Programme at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals.

I have had 37 years’ experience in anaesthetics. Residency and training at Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney. In 1970’s I worked in London in various hospitals including Charing Cross Hospital, Middlesex Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital & Research Centre and Moorfields Eye Hospital, Holbourne. Since 1988 I have been working in public & private hospitals on the Central Coast.

Interests: Paediatric Anaesthesia including one and a half years training in Camperdown and Westmead Childrens Hospitals;
Third World Anaesthesia (13 trips since 2000 to Third World Countries);
Ultrasound of the heart (ECHO) and difficult Anaesthesia.
I try to do the best for every single patient which may involve research, collaboration and unique problem solving. I keep up to date via conferences and personal reading, teaching and teaching others how to teach.

I am a specialist anaesthetist practising on the Central Coast since 2009.  I was admitted as a fellow of the RACGP in 2000.           I have a special interest in the peri-operative risk assessment and risk modification prior to major surgery.  My clinical interests include anaesthesia for Orthopaedic, Trauma and ENT surgery.  I completed an Obstetric fellowship at the Mercy Hospital for Women in 2009.  Currently I am the ANZCA joint supervisor of training for eye surgery for the Central Coast Area Health anaesthetic trainees.

I live and work on the Central Coast, previously working as a Consultant Anaesthetist in the UK. I currently work as a VMO Anaesthetist in the public and private sector.

As well as a specialist interest in anaesthesia for colorectal and thoracic surgery I provide anaesthesia and acute pain management across a diverse range          of surgical specialities including general , vascular, ophthalmic, plastic, trauma, orthopaedic, obstetric and gynaecological surgeries. I have experience in research with peer-reviewed publications and am committed to ongoing medical education. I am a Deputy Supervisor of Training for the Central Coast Training Network.

I completed the first half of my anaesthetic training in London and the second half at the Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Group of hospitals.

My training covered all areas of anaesthesia.

Since qualifying as a specialist anaesthetist I have worked exclusively on the Central Coast since 1983 in both the public and private hospitals.

I completed my training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. I did a fellowship in neuro-anaesthesia in 2012 however my interests include neuro-anaesthesia, anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery and anaesthesia for colorectal and upper GIT surgery.

I am now living on the Central Coast but continue to split my work obligations between the Central Coast and Sydney.


Dr Denise Keavy

I completed my Medical Degree at Sydney University, then moved North to undertake anaesthetic training at the John Hunter Private Hospital. I also spent 6 months training in Dublin at the Paediatric Hospital. I have been a Specialist on the Central Coast since 2001, working in both public and private Hospitals. I provide anaesthesia and acute pain management for a wide range of surgical specialities (orthopaedics, ENT, general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology and emergency surgery) with a special interest in paediatrics and regional analgesia. I am active in running our department and currently Director of Anaesthesia at Wyong Hospital.

Dr Lisa Kenway

I have over 15 years experience in anaesthesia. I am accredited to work at all the major hospitals on the Central Coast and currently work predominantly at Gosford Private Hospital and Gosford Public Hospital.

My areas of interest include anaesthesia for general surgery, gynaecological and obstetric services, orthopaedics and ear nose and throat surgery. I have had extensive training in anaesthesia for children and have completed a fellowship year in Canada which focused on regional anaesthesia (blocks) and obstetric anaesthesia.

I trained in Dublin for my Medical Degree and studied acute pain/trauma in Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast for my UK Anaesthetic Fellowship. I also completed 2 years of ENT/Plastics Fellowship at Guy’s Hospital, London.

I have been living and working on the Central Coast since 2002 in both the public and private sector.

I have a special interest in obstetrics, plastics, GIT and ENT anaesthetics.

I trained in Glasgow before coming to Australia in 1994.  I worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist at RPA in Sydney, where I was Supervisor of Anaesthetic Training from 1999 until 2014.  I am currently the Head of Department of Anaesthetics at Wyong Hospital and I also work in the private sector on the Coast.

I am a UK trained anaesthetist (London). I was broadening my experience and interest in Intensive Care Medicine working at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, when I made the decision to move to Australia.

I successfully completed the FANZCA to become dually qualified and have been working as a Specialist Anaesthetist for over 10 years now. I currently work in both public and private with particular interest in vascular and ENT surgery.

I am also the Supervisor of Training for Anaesthetics at Gosford Hospital and run a variety of workshops on complex airway management which attract audiences from interstate and overseas as well as locally.

I did my anaesthetics training in the UK. My interests include general and GIT surgery, spine, orthopaedic and plastic surgery.I did a Liver and Plastics Fellowship before spending 2 years in San Francisco working for Prof. Miller.

I am a representative of the Australian Difficult Airway Committee.

I have published in a number of journals and continue to pursue my research and speaking commitments both nationally and internationally. I am also a co-convenor of the COMA Conference.
